2013 was full of beginnings and endings for us. I left Active Duty in the Navy for the Reserves and to purse my photography full time. Danielle’s family moved to Charleston and she (finally) joined the Bump Meet Baby team. Our photography horizons expanded as we photographed for the amazing clothing company Bamboosa, and were chosen to shoot 4 magazine covers for Lowcountry Parent Magazine! We’ve expanded the studio to total over 1000 sqft, mentored some amazing new photographers, opened the studio up for workshops and in the end photographed 110 sweet newborn babies!
I think in the New Year its easy to get lost in the moment and project all these new desires and goals out there. We are creatures of ‘want’ and habit. In my nightly perusing of Pinterest I came across this quote:
It resonated with me because of how true it is. If you told me 3 years ago that I would be where I am now (with a thriving, full time photography career, a large, gorgeous natural light studio and an abundance of newborns and families to photograph) I would have told you that you must have been reading my daydreams. Yet here I am…and when I stop and think about it, tears of gratitude form.
So this year I will not get caught up in the hype of making a resolution. Everyone want to be healthier, happier and more prosperous…but this year I want to just simply be grateful. To take moments to enjoy my beautiful family, play with healthy, happy children and celebrate my 10 year wedding anniversary with the man I love and adore. I am going to count my blessings, not my regrets and learn to live in the moment.
I sincerely hope that we the opportunity to photograph another 100+ newborns this year. It has been amazing meeting all these new little loves and capturing everything their ‘new-ness’ inspires: joy, hope and love.
Here is to 2014! May it be everything and more!
